NOTICE OF FUNDING FOR PROPOSITION 4, ROUND 1
The Safe Drinking Water, Wildfire Prevention, Drought Preparedness, and Clean Air Bond Act of 2024 (referred to as “Proposition 4”) was approved by voters on November 5, 2024. This initiative emphasizes Californians’ commitment to creating a resilient future through actions that conserve land, protect native species and habitats, provide public access, and reduce the risk and intensity of wildfire.
The Conservancy is excited to announce approximately $11 million available for Round 1 funding. This includes:
- $3 million for wildfire and forest resilience projects, aimed at wildfire prevention and suppression, reducing community wildfire risk, and restoring the health and resilience of forests and landscapes.
- $8 million for protecting biodiversity and promoting nature-based climate solutions. This funding will support projects designed to mitigate the impacts of climate change on communities, fish and wildlife, and natural resources, while also increasing public access to these areas.
Concept Proposals are due to Dustin Harrison Dustin.Harrison@sdrc.ca.gov and
Julia Richards Julia.Richards@sdrc.ca.gov no later than close of business on July 11, 2025. Full Applications (by invitation only) are due summer 2025.
The amount awarded will depend on the quality of the proposals submitted. Work performed under the grant agreement is subject to availability of funds through the State’s normal budget process.
The Conservancy strongly encourages potential applicants to contact its Program Manager, Dustin Harrison, to discuss project ideas in advance, identify permits needed and secure land tenure or site control for potential project locations.
